Dave Abbitt, the first base umpire in Vallejo who was slugged by Vallejo’s first base coach, didn’t suffer a broken jaw or any other broken bones as a result of getting sucker-punched, according to the home plate umpire who worked the state Babe Ruth tournament game Sunday.
The ump said he will try to get Abbitt to call me. If he does, I’ll write his reaction to the incident as well as asking if he’ll press charges.
If I were Abbitt, I’d sue this guy for so much, he’d be on food stamps by the time my lawyer is through with him. Of course, that’s just me. Everybody’s different.
