Champion Tour golfer Joey Sindelar was taken to Sonoma Valley Hospital Saturday after complaining of being short of breath and slightly dizzy.
Sindelar, competing in the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, complained after the second hole that he felt like he was walking uphill when he was in fact walking downhill. He was briefly examined and cleared to play.
After the fourth hole, however, Sindelar, 51, was experienced more acute symptoms. Wearing an oxygen mask, Sindelar was taken from the Sonoma Golf Club course by golf cart.
At Sonoma Valley Sindelar learned it was not a cardiac-related problem. Sindelar will remain at Sonoma Valley overnight for observation.
No further details were available at the time of this posting.
Sindelar won seven times on the regular PGA TOUR. This is only his second year on the Champions Tour.
