Jay Haas, who has won the Charles Schwab Cup twice, was extolling the virtues of the Sonoma Golf Club, mentioning how it was close to perfect, and how he couldn’t think of how to improve.
“Really?” I asked. “How about an ocean? How about an ocean view off No. 15?”
Haas paused and for a moment there I actually thought he was taking my question seriously.
Then he started to laugh and said, “Yeah, then I would be perfect.”
“And then,” I said, “it would be Pebble Beach.”
Pebble Beach, the only place for a non-golfer to play golf.
