Retired or active military personnel will have free admission to the Charles Schwab Cup Championship Thursday through Sunday at the Sonoma Golf Club. Just show a military I.D. If family members are present, they will need to pay the daily admission charge of $35 per person.
According to Leon Gilmore, executive director of the Schwab Cup Championship, the PGA will consider a four-day crowd of 40,000-50,000 a great success.
“But there’s no question the recession has affected the event,” Gilmore said. “That’s why have tried to keep the tournament affordable. The Pro-Am has been harder to sell.”
The tournament looks to have receive a break in the weather. Rain originally forecast for Saturday but now clear skies are forecast.
